Kenai Miller  New

Kenai was 2 years old when while running with his little girls in the backyard all the sudden he couldn’t bear any weight on his back left leg. We hoped that maybe he had a splinter in his paw or something minor. We looked him over and couldn't find anything, so off to the vet we went.

She felt that Kenai had injured the left knee and suggested we take him to an orthopedic center for further evaluation of the injury. Well, that appointment proved to be devastating as we found that Kenai has torn his left Cranial Cruciate Ligament. the injury he has suffered will require surgery to repair at an estimated cost of $3400-$3600.

Kenai is our first Berner and he has been such a beautiful, furry, energetic blessing to our family. We're praying that you'd be able to help us help our baby-boy.

UPDATE ON KENAI

Hi there:

Kenai went in for his procedure at 6:30am this morning.

The Dr. Cafone just called to let me know he is out of surgery and sleeping it all off. He came through everything just fine and he feels that Kenai’s prognosis is really, really good as long as we keep him quiet and from jumping around (yeah right!). He is only allowed short leash walks for the next 8 weeks, no stairs and mobility should be much better in about 8 weeks or so. Once Dr. Cafone got in there; he found that in addition to the Cruciate Tear; he had also torn his Meniscus…..Kenai never does anything half way…LOL

A HUGE HUG and Thank you to the BEHAF organization for their support! I spent a lot of time in tears rubbing that big fuzzy belly wondering how I was going to provide him the care he needed. When I drove to Hylens and picked up my little Fur ball with the white paws…I took responsibility for his life, care and well being, no matter what that brings with it. So many families are struggling financially right now and having to make heart wrenching decisions when it comes to their pets. Organization such as BEHAF makes it a little bit easier and provides options; which is such a blessing! Thank you!

Thank you to Dr. Cafone for all of the great care thus far and the hours he spent to day putting my baby back together. Thank you to all of my friends for your end less support I would be happy to provide on going updates on his condition as we get him home and healed.
